MOST MESSED UP is extremely messy, held together by a string & a magnificent rhythm section. Played mostly live, this is kind of the platonic form of ALT-COUNTRY as a genre. Country, mixed with punk & garage music, awashed in pop music melody, is played expertly, almost like the REPLACEMENTS with a more country vibe, which is appropriate since TOMMY STINSON is a guest guitarist here. This is a barn burner. Check it out!

2012 & fifth studio album from OM is the second to feature EMIL AMOS (HOLY SONGS, GRAILS) on drums & also has the most songs of any OM album thus far: five! These guys have some a long way in a short time from 2005's "Conference of the Birds," which was basically bass & drums droning along, hypnotically. "Advaitic Songs" has cello, flute, tabla & other strings & guest female vocals from KATE RAMSEY, but also gets things going in a much less mellow fashion with OM's trademark pounding drums & loud, distorted bass guitar. We file this in metal, but fans of everytyhing from stoner rock to '70s psych could all find something to like about this album. Very solid stuff that is also RECOMMENDED!

SLEEP co-founder Al Cisneros returns with his mighty OM project. This time, it's GRAILS drummer Emil Amos who joins the proceedings. First off, you better be pretty freakin' heavy and/or mystical to call an album this and thankfully, OM are both. They've expanded their flirtation with eastern mysticism (first track has sitar!), yet have kept their simple core formula intact. GOD IS GOOD is heavy, satisfying, mind-expanding and brutal. The OM sound has grown organically and sounds like a perfectly natural extension of their already perfect sound. OM is good. GET THIS!

Dark hard rock with psychedelic synths & an abrasive industrial metal scuzz drenching everything. This band's records are always worth checking out & this one is no different.
