2011 release from LOW, who trade in slightly varied shades of awesome and can do just about whatever they want and we'll love it. This record is a perfect example: the dark veil has lifted a hair, and allowed some sunshine into the songwriting, plus the dude who mixes pop records for Katy Perry was allowed near these songs. However, the lugubrious pop genius still shines through, reeling you in and never letting your attentions waver. RECOMMENDED!!!

Twentieth-ish anniversary of this uncovered indie pop gem from Oakland duo LUNCHBOX, showcasing an earlier sound that incorporates tape loops, feedback and sound collage with the band's signature jangle pop. For fans of THE CLEAN, APPLES IN STEREO, THE GERBILS and other bands of that ilk, this comes HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Just writing about this gives me goosebumps...anyway, over two years in the making, this much anticipated collaboration between mic manhandler MF DOOM and infamous Beat Conductor MADLIB is finally in our hands; where to begin?! How about the fact that both artists are at their zenith here--Madlib comes up with his finest beats since Quasimoto's "Unseen," and Doom just going off on his stream-of-conciousness rhyme flow (even rhyming SYLLABLES on the haunting "Figaro") that remains unmatched. Throw in an aesthetic that left most of these songs clocking in at UNDER 2 minutes and a slim guest list (M.E.D, WILDCHILD, LORD QUAS, and STACY EPPS) and you get the most left-field, asbtract rap record since "De La Soul Is Dead."
