Giovanna Lenski & Christian Molik are a duo from DETROIT that go by CLINIC STARS. This is the most traditionally gazey release on Kranky in some time & that’s totally cool with us. Nods at legends like LUSH, COCTEAU TWINS & noisey bitsala FLYING SAUCER ATTACK. If you’ve been on the hunt for a record done in the style of first wave shoegazers then this one’s for you.
JAMIE XX – In Waves LP/deluxe LP/CD (Young)
It’s been almost 10 years since Jamie XX’s debut “In Colour” & with some help from his bandmates in THE XX, ROBYN, AVALANCHES & more Jamie has created another dance floor classic. This album feels lighter & more accessible as dance music probably because he’s been writing music to fit into his DJ sets. Not many producers are working at this level right now & JAMIE XX proves once again that he’s one of the best. RECOMMENDED.

“Flow Critical Lucidity” is the 9th solo album by the former SONIC YOUTH shredder. The songs are on the mellower side for Thurston with a few mixing his guitar strumming with piano in cool ways. The song “Sans Limites” features backing vocals by STEREOLAB’s Laetitia Sadier & it’s as much as a “hit” that we’ve heard from Moore in some time. It’s a pretty darn catchy tune among some other catchy tunes. RECOMMENDED.
