The Brooklyn via Virginia artist got his start as MIRROR KISSES in the late oughts & since then Clanton has become of the leaders of the vaporwave sound. "Slide" is his 2018 album & it's full of those woozy synth sounds that you'd want in a vaporwave record but this owes as much to late 80's/early 90's Brit pop as it does to contemporary music. Fans of everything from MY BLOODY VALENTINE to TAME IMPALA & John Maus will want to check this out. RECOMMENDED.

For years it was thought that there was only one recorded live performance of John Coltrane's legendary "A Love Supreme" until the recent discovery of this 1965 recording from Seattle. This amateur recording was made at the same time as the "Live in Seattle" album & features the classic quartet along with Pharoah Sanders, Carlos Ward & Donald Garrett. The performance is much more intense & wild than the album & hints at the deep dive into the journey of free expression that Coltrane was about to undertake. Though this isn't a professional recording, it sounds pretty darn good & it's truly a very exciting discovery. RECOMMENDED!

When we heard that a lost John Coltrane album featuring the classic quartet was discovered, we certainly didn't think it would include previously unheard original songs & shockingly that is in fact the case. Supposedly the tapes were in the possession of Coltrane's first wife Naima's family & their significance wasn't noticed until recently. This 1963 session was recorded in one day at Rudy Van Gelder's legendary New Jersey studio & there is some original music on here that even the most knowledgeable Coltrane experts weren't aware of. Some of the studio chatter was kept in which only adds to the wonder of hearing this stuff for time & it's easy to imagine how magical it must have been for the engineers to hear it in the control room back in 1963. Getting some new Coltrane music is definitely a rare event & we couldn't be more excited about it. RECOMMENDED.
