Just writing about this gives me goosebumps...anyway, over two years in the making, this much anticipated collaboration between mic manhandler MF DOOM and infamous Beat Conductor MADLIB is finally in our hands; where to begin?! How about the fact that both artists are at their zenith here--Madlib comes up with his finest beats since Quasimoto's "Unseen," and Doom just going off on his stream-of-conciousness rhyme flow (even rhyming SYLLABLES on the haunting "Figaro") that remains unmatched. Throw in an aesthetic that left most of these songs clocking in at UNDER 2 minutes and a slim guest list (M.E.D, WILDCHILD, LORD QUAS, and STACY EPPS) and you get the most left-field, asbtract rap record since "De La Soul Is Dead." 2018 collabo between CZARFACE, which is compromised of 7L, ESOTERIC & INSPECTAH DECK (WU-TANG CLAN), & the supervillain himself, MF DOOM. This is some serious boom-bap shit, DOOM's playful, unique flow over 7L's beats (credited here as the "Czar-Keys" along with JEREMY PAGE & TODD SPADAFORE) paired with ESOTERIC & DECK's harder, more-straightforward rhyme styles. The songs are punchy & to-the-point; you might need a chiropractor for your neck after a few listens.

2009 release from (MF) DOOM brings the fire like he's known to do. After releasing about a million albums aroud 2003/2004 (MADVILLAIN, MONSTA ISLAND CZARS, DANGERDOOM, etc), the masked villain has been laying somewhat low for a while. "Born Like This" is still mostly DOOM on vocals & produciton, but also features a few joints from the likes of JAKE ONE, MADLIB, and the late J DILLA. Guest MCs are minimal, but familiar DOOM guests: GHOSTFACE, RAEKWON, SLUG (ATMOSPHERE), KURIOUS, & a few more. Get the headphones out and roll one up, because it's not a coincidence that there's some weird hieroglyphics on the front, 'cause DOOM's lyrics are not easily decipherable. Buy this & have your brain expanded!
