"Tio Bitar" or "Ten Pieces" is the higly anticipated follow-up to 2005's "Ta Det Lugnt." This album brings together two impecable textures of sound seemlessly. Those textures being the vintage psychedelic sound that was in the fore-front of "Ta Det Lugnt" and a contemporary groove that has a new yet mature sound. Yes, there are the intense HENDRIX inspired jam-outs. Yes, there are classic organ riffs. However, there are smooth, rounded vocals, windy flute activity, and slower song progressions that hint to a calmer theme or core running throughout the album. There is something a little more sensitive or tender amoungst the searing solos, relentless drumming, and crunching bass lines. This fact might not be noticed after listening to the intro track. It's a classic DUNGEN rock session until it sounds like a speaker blew out somwhere and continues on a tangent led by a recorder or small flute. This is a well-crafted mix of old and new, tough and tender, & distinctive yet familiar. Do yourself a great big favor and GET THIS!!! ***This is the more expensive, import version of "Tio Bitar" on Subliminal Sounds Records. Flashy.

I can say with conviction that THE CORNER is the best miniseries on television. From the creators of THE WIRE, THE CORNER is the WIRE's lost season: an in- depth examination of the life of addicts & families & children & the community the drug world (& war) has created. Consider it an expansion of season 4. BASED ON TRUE STORIES. Truly incredible. Starring T.K. CARTER (THE THING) & KHANDI ALEXANDER (TREME) with TONS of WIRE cast playing parts both small & large. THIS IS AS GOOD AS WATCHING TV GETS!!

Reateaming with THE BAND, Dylan winds up with an album that recalls NEW MORNING more than BASEMENT TAPES, since PLANET WAVES is given to a relaxed intimate tone- all the more appropriate for a collection of modest songs about domestic life. As such, it may seem a little anticlimactic since it has none of the wildness of some of the best DYLAN & THE BAND stuff of the 60's- just an approximation of homespun rusticness. Considering it was knocked out in a matter of days, it's still quite an album!

Dylan's third record & first collection of originals. The sense of humour from FREEWHEELIN' is tempered & his focus has shifted instead to songs of social protest. Even though it's not as good as his previous effort, it's still miles ahead of anyone else & a complete classic.

INFIDELS was the first secular record Dylan recorded since STREET LEGAL, & it's far more like a classicist Dylan album than that, filled with songs that are evo- cative in their imagery & direct in their approach. Its lean, much like SLOW TRAIN COMING, but it's writing is closer to Dylan's peak of the mid-70's & some of the songs here, particularly the first side, are minor classics, capturing his sense of social conciousness & his gift for poetic, elegant love songs. Like I said, it's a bit top-heavy, but compared to the material that arrived a near-decade before it, it's a triumph, find- ing Dylan coming so close to regaining his powers.
