Ok folks here’s the list of what we’ll have for RSD 2026. We do our best to get as much of this stuff as we can and like every year some things are very limited or didn’t make it in time. If you don’t see a title on this list we don’t have it. Some titles are only available at certain locations and we labeled those. One per customer, no phone orders or holds.

Whether it’s contemporary, out of print, or archival, Dark Entries Records releases heaters year in-year out, this being no exception. A concept record of subdued techno sculptures that are inspired by (& created for) bathhouse experiences. 

Talulah’s Tape – Good Flying Birds
A special shoutout to my Indianapolis friends, who released a 90s-inspired jangle-pop gem, full of wit, humor & meticulousness on Smoking Room & Carpark Records this year. Fun fact! I recorded this band’s very first set with a JVC camcorder back in August 2024, which later was used as audio for a cassette tape of theirs. Love y’all, GFB <3

Goodbye Horses: The Many Lives of Q Lazzarus – Q Lazzarus
Released as a coinciding record to a masterful documentary, this record digs up some of Q’s never before heard material. So much versatility showcased through this compilation, & someone who deserved much better when we had them. Watch the doc & listen to this asap!

Rhythm Archives – Al Wootton
A late discovery for me this year! A beautifully sculpted record of meditative explorations using vintage drum machines housed in the Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio in Sydney, Australia. Somewhere in the dub/industrial/experimental/post-punk range.

   Eusexua – FKA Twigs: This year was a triphop revival across the board, but I think twigs was the first to really get it going. I love her experimental visions.

   Moisturizer – Wet Leg:  I loved their debut, but this one didn’t leave my rotation for weeks after its release.

   Ego Death at a Bachelorette Party – Hayley Williams: Any Paramore adjacent project will end up in my favorites, but wow this one really soars from top to bottom. The album release party would probably make it as my favorite “reckless moment” of the year too!

   Bleeds – Wednesday:  This band is a new one for me, but anything alternative-country-esque wins. Made me a fan!

   Addison – Addison Rae:  I mentioned triphop revival earlier…let’s stop pretending this didn’t

   exceed everyone’s expectations! Headphones On has to be one of my favorite songs of the year.

   From the Pyre – The Last Dinner Party:  I’m glad to see my stocks and investments in this band paying off. A great sophomore album from female rockers!

Go back &amp; check out the bands you couldn’t quite get into… This year I can honestly say that 3 of my most favorite records were by artists I’d listened to but just couldn’t quite get into. “Snipe Hunt,” by Tyler Childers is an excellent example of what a producer can bring to a record &amp; while I’m sure there were fans who feel like they lost something with Rick Rubin’s influence, I think this was the best country record I heard this year.

“Juniper,” by Joy Crookes really surprised me. “Juniper” has occupied my thoughts for days, weeks, months… it feels like a continuation of what Amy Winehouse was doing on “Frank “Paid in Memories,” by Jessie Reyez. Jessie has shown up &amp; shown out on other people’s records, but “Paid in Memories” is the first time I’ve been hooked on a complete record by her. She’s so unique in style &amp; execution.

Sometimes it really is worth the wait…

Destin Conrad’s debut LP “Love On Digital” is as good as I could ever have hoped it would be. Conrad is charming &amp; smooth vocally, with an engaging energy that is flirty, witty, &amp; fun.

“Let God Sort ‘Em Out” by the Clipse is one of the best Hip Hop albums of the decade… just straight up brilliant from top to bottom. Excellent features. Incredible beats. Legendary rapping.

Chance The Rapper had a tough time getting “Starline” off the ground, but it might be the best writing he’s ever done. Dense &amp; layered, but catchy and listenable; it’s what Chance does better than anyone else. Except maybe J.I.D… “God Does Like Ugly” is a masterpiece. It’s some of the best rapping to come out in a year of incredible rapping. Nobody is doing it like J.I.D.

Finally getting reissues of Letters to Cleo “Wholesale Meats &amp; Fish,” &amp; “Aurora Glory Alice.” I don’t know what took so long…

Last but not least… The Legendary Roots crew with “Come Alive Too: DYWM30…” Celebrate one of the best acts to ever do it.

• Luvcat – Viciously Delicious (AWAL) When recommending I often say she’s like a “Rockstar Alice in Wonderland” version of Sabrina Carpenter. She’s got the heels and big hair but a darker, off kilter tone to her music with enough lust to go around. 
• Queens of the Stone Age – Alive in the Catacombs EP (Matador Records) I had the pleasure of getting to see this performed live and I felt like I was in the catacombs with them. I consider this one of their best pieces at the moment since the performance value in both the show and the recording really highlight their artistry. 
• Dodie – Not for a Lack of Trying (Universal Music Operations) This girl raised me. Her production on this album sounds like her voice is echoing through a cave or forest and little bugs are playing along.

Big Thief – Double Infinity (4AD)
It was hard to follow up an album as solid as their 2022 Dragon New Warm Mountain… but this is yet another fantastic piece of lush indie rock from a band that keeps getting better.

Casualshrine – Earthen (Spectral Disc)
I listened to this several times this year and didn’t realize until writing this list that it was made by a fellow employee. Go figure! Cinematic, ambient techno.

Chat Pile & Hayden Pedigo – In The Earth Again (The Flenser)
Plenty of the honest and existential dread you love from Chat Pile, but with a softer beauty to it. Some good bad-time music.

Clipse – Let God Sort Em Out (Roc Nation)
A new Clipse record in 2025 and it’s this good?? What did we do to deserve this?

David Wise – Battletoads [Video Game Soundtrack, Reissue] (iam8bit)
Battletoads for the NES is probably the most difficult game I’ve beaten, and it’s a good thing the music is amazing because I spent a lot of time listening to it as I died over & over. Classic spacey chiptune jams.

Equip & FM Skyline – Music 2 (100% Electronica)
Babe, wake up. Music 2 just dropped. Funky vaporwave collab from two of the best in the business.

Hiroshi Yoshimura – Flora [First release outside of Japan] (Temporal Drift)
Originally released on CD in 2006, this is the first reissue of this meditative ambient masterpiece, and the first time it’s been on LP or available at all in North America. Put this on repeat and be transported.

Hole Dweller – Hole In One [7″ Single] (Dungeons Deep)
When you tell people that one of your favorite artists is “hobbit-themed dungeon synth”, they tend to look at you a certain way. But I promise that not only is it as cozy as the name suggests, but Hole Dweller’s music has a nostalgic sort of melancholy that will bring tears to your eyes. Go listen to everything this dude has to offer.

Jeanines – How Long Can It Last (Slumberland Records)
Minimal, twee, indie pop that feels like a hidden gem from decades ago.

Mahjong Master – The Mahjong Master (Equip’s Picks)
One of the legendary Equip’s many monikers, this mixtape features tons of samples from Mahjong video games, in a nice ambient, vaporwave-y package. If this kind of niche project sounds like your thing, Equip puts out an album like this every single month. Get in on it.

Matt Jencik & Midwife – Never Die (Relapse Records)
I didn’t intend to put multiple albums by people I work with on this list, but they’re just really good. Giving a hopeful new meaning to “co-worker music”.

Oneohtrix Point Never – Tranquilizer (Warp Records)
Daniel Lopatin can do no wrong. Another classic for the books.

Richard Dawson – End Of The Middle (Weird World)
A 44-year old British man singing from the perspective of an aging grandmother reflecting on her life made me cry.

Stereolab – Instant Holograms On Metal Film (Warp Records)
Every moment spent listening to an album by Stereolab is time well spent.

Steve Hauschildt – Aeropsia (Simul Records)
Masterfully ethereal, ambient soundscapes. Another entry in a fantastic discography.

Tuluum Shimmering – Leaping Past The Moon (Tuluum Shimmering Records)
I listened to one album by this artist on bandcamp at the beginning of the year, then I realized they have like, hundreds of incredible albums on there full of looping, droning, psych-folk tunes. And the tracks are usually at least a half hour long, so it’s great as the soundtrack to whatever you’re doing.

Vanishing Amulet – Moonlit Cryer (Dungeons Deep)
I got to watch a live set by Vanishing Amulet at the Empty Bottle when they opened up for Hole Dweller. Kind of like seeing the Phantom of the Opera doing a residency at a dive bar. Some real haunted house dungeon synth.

ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER – Tranquilizer LP/CD (Warp)

Daniel Lopatin returns to his moniker ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER, following collaborations with THE WEEKND and Josh Safdie on the “Marty Supreme” soundtrack, pulling from an Internet Archive trove of commercial samples for a dense, dynamic exercise in jazz-dance sound design. There’s a sense of cut-n-paste kosmische here that is reminiscent of artists like FLYING LOTUS and KAYTRANADA at their most abstract, and for all of the bombast of its maximalist moments, “Tranquilizer” has periods of muted gentleness that touches on BURIAL- esque hypnagogia. On Warp and RECOMMENDED.

Back in 2020 this music was originally released in a hyper limited run of 50 lathe-cut LPS & now it’s finally available to the masses. A mix of incidental synth & organ instrumentals & out of time rock & roll ballads that you can imagine blasting out of cheap portable radio somewhere at sunset.RECOMMENDED.

PATRICK COWLEY – Hard Ware LP (Dark Entries)

Dark Entries has slowly been revealing the ridiculously deep treasure trove of unreleased material by the late Patrick Cowley. “Tech-No” is a dark & rich track that would sit well next to any KRAFTWERK klassic. “Jungle Jump” is a dance floor filler & all of this is just more proof of the genius Cowley left behind. Recommended.

DEMIAN – Demian (reissue) LP (Riding Easy)

BUBBLE PUPPY FANS!! After the members of the great 60s texas psych rock band relocated to L.A. they decided to change their name to DEMIAN. They released this excellent album on ABC in 1970 & then faded away. Nods at their BUBBLE PUPPY past, hints of STEPPENWOLF, SUGARLOAF & NAZARETH with some great dueling guitar leads.

Bob Pollard is back with his musical drinking buddies in 2025 with an album that to our ears shows his love for THE WHO. Late 60’s British psychedelia is the name of the game this time around which is more than fine with us. 

ONE OF NINE – Dawn of the Iron Shadow LP/CD (Profound Lore)

ONE OF NINE is a black metal band from North Carolina that is heavily inspired by the JRR TOLKIEN universe. Melodic black metal with some sonic nods at stuff like WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM, WINTERFYLLETH etc… with some occasional folky elements. Good stuff. 

RADIOACTIVITY – Time Won’t Bring Me Down LP/CD (Wild Honey)

It’s been 10 long years since the last RADIOACTIVITY album. Jeff Burke (also of MARKED MEN, THE REDS  etc…) is one of the best songwriters in this style & he’s joined by members of MIND SPIDERS & BAD SPORTS for this amazing collection of melodic rockers.

While arranging music for the Hamlet Hail to the Thief Shakespeare adaptation Thom Yorke went back & listened to some live recordings from the era & was so impressed the band decided to release them & we’re thankful for it. The band was absolutely COOKING in the oughts & these live recordings prove it. This is probably the band’s most underrated album in our humble opinion so this live album is much appreciated. BLACKBRAID is the solo black metal project of Jon Krieger, an indigenous musician from the Adirondack Mountains in New York. This native Mexican musician also goes by Sgahgahsowh a Mohawk name that means the Witch Hawk! Incredible melodic black metal with plenty of crisp acoustic passages & sounds of crackling fires. This reminds us of everything from DISSECTION (not a comparison we throw around lightly) & other melodic greats like WINTERFYLLETH. This third album shows BLACKBRAID growing into one of the finest active black metal bands around. The sold out 2025 tour is coming through Chicago! RECOMMENDED.

One of our all-time favorite artists has returned with a new album in 2025. As Always Neko’s voice is bigger than life, filling every bit of space possible in the most beautifulways. The biggest change this time comes from Tom Hagerman of  DeVotchKa who helped arrange the lush strings that dominate most of the songs which all blends with Neko’s voice wonderfully. Another amazing addition to her deep discography.

We’ve recently become obsessed by the California based musician Joshua Chuquimia Crampton’s solo guitar music. There’s tons of distortion and what we think is an octave pedal totally cranked. We suppose you could say there are “riffs” but it doesn’t really listen that way. Fans of early 00s noise & drone like stuff on labels such as Important, Root Strata & even 90s noise like DEAD C will want to check this RECOMMENDED.

CATE LE BON – Michelangelo Dying LP/CD (Mexican Summer) with signed print while supplies last! 

The Welsh musician Cate Le Bon has made some of the most captivating albums of the last decade not only as a musician but as a producer. Her 2025 album finds her at the top of the heap of modern art rock. Brian Eno’s pop records have been a major comparison on the last few & that continues here along with nods at 80s Bowie, TALKING HEADS, DURUTTI COLUMN & YELLOW MAGIC ORCHESTRA. Easily one of the best albums of the year. RECOMMENDED.

The London trio MOIN is one of our favorite contemporary groups here at Reckless. Drummer Valentina Magaletti is always at the center of the music & that’s no different here. This EP is less “rock” than “You Never End” with cyclical sax loops instead of prominent guitars & the staple MOIN spoken word vocals & samples. Fans of the group, THIS HEAT etc… must hear this. RECOMMENDED.

Chicago’s own SMUT are back with a new one & a new line-up for 2025. This one feels a little more aggressive with crunchier guitars & a more blown-out sound. Singer Tay Roebuck’s voice cuts through the fuzzy wall of guitars (one of which happens to be Reckless’ Andie Min!) & their catchy tunes remind us of THE SUNDAY, SMASHING PUMPKINS, PRIMITIVES & ELASTICA. JEREMIAH CHIU & MARTA SOFIA HONER – Different Rooms LP/CD (International Anthem) 

Following their 2024 album with the late, great ARIEL KALMA, this latest collaboration between synthesist JEREMIAH CHIU and violist / electronic composer MARTA SOFIA HONER returns to placid, meditative vignettes that develop motifs and phase in and out of structure. Featuring support from JEFF PARKER and CHIU’s SML bandmate JOSH JOHNSON, this will definitely appeal to fans of minimal jazz artists like NALA SINEPHRO and ALABASTER DePLUME as well as environmental composers like HIROSHI YOSHIMURA. THE CURE are one of our all-time favorite bands here at Reckless & their 2024 comeback album “Songs of a Lost World” was one of the best records of 2024. The deep remix album features reimaginings by artists such as MOGWAI, FOURTET, PAUL OAKENFOLD, ORBITAL & much more. A really fun listen.

HOTLINE TNT – Raspberry Moon LP/CD (Third Man) limited color or black

We were really big fans of the debut album by HOTLINE TNT “Cartwheel” & this 2025 album is already bouncing around in our heads. Will Anderson is the primary songwriter & up until this album HOTLINE TNT has mostly been a solo project in the studio. “Raspberry Moon” is a full band record including live drums this time. Warm & crunchy guitars & straight-to-the-point shoegaze rockers that will appeal to fans of RIDE, DIIV, PALE SAINTS& DINOSAUR JR. 

BILLY NICHOLS – Would You Believe LP (Immediate)

Here it is kiddies, one of the rarest & most expensive LPs out there finally gets a worldwide release for the very first time in nearly 60 years. The album was recorded by the manager of the Rolling Stones Andrew Loog Oldham for his label Immediate & he brought in singer/songwriter Billy Nichols to help make a British response to “Pet Sounds.” The album featured SMALL FACES & Zep’s John Paul Jones & the baroque just drips off these psychedelic pop gems. About 100 copies were pressed but the label fell on hard times almost immediately (cough) after & was more or less cancelled. It’s become a cult classic over the years & any BEATLES obsessive, KINKS, LEFT BANKE, ZOMBIES fan needs to have this in their collection. ESSENTIAL late 60s’ British psych pop. 

COSEY FANNI TUTTI – 2T2 LP/CD (CTI)

Cosey Fanni Tutti has released a colossal amount of music but 2T2 is just her 3rd proper solo album. The songs are repetitive with almost wordless chanting at times over fuzzed-out synths & mid-tempo beats while “Never the Same” sounds like a classic CHRIS & COSEY track. Another great record by one of our favorite artists.

Chicago’s beloved DIANOGAH have been active off & on since 1995 & over that time they released 4 albums & a few singles all of which has been very out of print for many years UNTIL NOW. Their double bass attack of Jay Ryan’s Rickenbacker treble & Jason Harvey’s Jazz low bass sounds along with Kip McCabe’s technical drumming combine for a style truly all their own. Years in the making this beautiful box set features remasters of all of their records as well as an LP of outtakes & live material exclusive to this box. There’s a also a booklet of photos, & two posters with art by Jay that’s just as recognizable as the band’s music. This is a must have for fans of 90s & 00s Chicago indie rock. ESG – Come Away With ESG LP (Fire)

It’s hard to really articulate how important and vital this record is, but here’s an attempt: These 11 songs represent the meeting point between punk, dance, funk, disco & hip-hop. Minimal bass hooks on the back beat are paired with whip-sharp drums, and the resulting sound is deceptive in its simplicity. This record is a hallmark of the post-Studio 54 era NY disco scene. Endlessly sample-able, this should be mandated in every home.

ESG – Step Off LP (Fire)

 2025 reissue of the great 2002 comeback record by the legendary ESG. The band continued their minimalist take on dance music that they started in the late 70’s in the South Bronx. There’s maybe a bit more of a minor key on some of these tunes but it’s DEFINITELY the ESG we know & love. RECOMMENDED.

Thom Wasluck is back with the first new PLANNING FOR BURIAL album in 8 years. Genres are mostly out the window here with elements of doom, black metal, shoegaze & slow core combined in really cool ways. Fans of stuff like JESU, PELICAN, NADJA etc… will dig this.

ALAN SPARHAWK WITH TRAMPLED BY TURTLES – With Trampled By Turtles LP/CD (Sub Pop)

Alan Sparhawk & fellow Duluth musicians TRAMPLED BY TURTLES have played together many times over the years so this combo is no surprise. Sparhawk’s last record was fully entrenched in electronica & this record couldn’t be more different despite sharing some of the same songs. The recording is direct & dry with Alan’s vocals as up front as they can be. Tracks like “Not Broken” were written with the late Mimi Parker & the late Mimi Parker & the reminder of LOW here is quite heavy. A nice mix of folk & 70s style orchestral pop ala John Cale & Lou Reed solo albums.RECOMMENDED.

STEREOLAB – Instant Holograms on Metal Film LP/CD (Duophonic) color or black vinyl

It’s safe to say that STEREOLAB is one of our favorite bands ever here at Reckless – spend a day at any of the locations and there’s at least a ~40% chance you hear “Dots & Loops”, “Transient Random-Noise Bursts..” or any of their other records over our speakers (don’t check my math on that) – so it’s understandable how excited we are about their first new music in fifteen years. If you’re familiar with the band, “Instant Holograms..” is not going to shock you. Gane, Sadier & company settle into their signature cerebral mixture that combines retro space-age lounge, pulsing motorik grooves, nostalgic French ye-ye and enveloping noise rock. There are some Chicago connections here too; the record is produced by Cooper Crain of BITCHIN’ BAJAS and features help from Crain’s bandmate Rob Frye as well as Int’l Anthem staple Ben Lamar Gay, but their contributions only reinforce how singularly STEREOLAB this record sounds. COULD NOT BE MORE RECOMMENDED!!!!
