Daniel Lopatin returns to his moniker ONEOHTRIX POINT NEVER, following collaborations with THE WEEKND and Josh Safdie on the "Marty Supreme" soundtrack, pulling from an Internet Archive trove of commercial samples for a dense, dynamic exercise in jazz-dance sound design. There's a sense of cut-n-paste kosmische here that is reminiscent of artists like FLYING LOTUS and KAYTRANADA at their most abstract, and for all of the bombast of its maximalist moments, "Tranquilizer" has periods of muted gentleness that touches on BURIAL- esque hypnagogia.
